“Where you look, affects how you feel”
Part of my approach is to support your brain to heal traumas more fluidly and naturally. Depending on the subject matter, the pain you carry that’s stored in your midbrain could be resolved in one to two sessions. Sometimes the brain can process issues faster than other subject matters. Other times it could take 6 months to a year to heal the traumas stored in your midbrain. When we allow the brain to lead the process of healing, we are able to detox emotional baggage more effectively. Talk Therapy tends to focus on the thinking side of the brain whereas Brainspotting therapy is focusing more on the emotional side of the brain. The therapist and client locate where emotions are stored in your body and works on healing the root of the problems.
During Brainspotting Therapy, there are two ways to find an activated Brainspot. One way could be that the client naturally knows exactly where the pointer needs to be located due to being in tune with their emotions. The other common way is for the therapist to find the spot in the room by being attuned to the client’s body movement patterns.
When we find a brain spot, we will also find a safe spot in the room to come back to and visit anytime the activation spot is too much to focus on. You can take breaks if you need to stop the process. Brainspotting goes hand and hand with talk therapy, however, if you don’t want to talk out-loud about the problem, the brain will process the problems without the need to talk.
